This book has changed my perspective on marriage, motherhood and life. I have a hard time finishing books (with 4 kids keeping me busy) and I couldn't put this one down. I actually started waking an hour early bc I was so hungry for the information! I cannot thank the Rabbi's enough that wrote/translated this book the insight has truly changed me and benefited my whole family.My husband also started reading Garden of Peace after seeing my love for this book and our marriage has benefited tremendously!I cannot recommend this book enough!
I was not expecting to give this book such a horrid review. While I agree that a women's job is to care for her family and build her home, the ideas in this book are extreme and I do not see how this is a Torah approach. I am an orthodox women, with Bais Yaakov education. I am a stay at home mom, and not a feminist in the modern sence of the word. Yet I find myself really disturbed by this book. The few sources provided are tied to the practical advice in a far fetched way. Jewish tradition is such that you can find sources to prove all kinds of things when you take the words out of context to fit your own narrative. I do not disagree with everything in this book, but even the things I do agree with are simple ideas written in an overelaborated manner.
Not only for married women, but ALL women. God has designed us in a very special and unique way. To learn His purposes for us and then to begin to live in that light, life and marriage just seem to fall into place. My husband had gotten the Garden of Peace, and I wanted to find something for myself. I am very pleased
A must read for women. It begins before marriage, so it's great for women looking for a spouse too.Another fantastic book by this author. This book is a real eye opener to the role women play in their relationship with their husband! I am having to read it slowly, and the toughest part is that we are not to discuss what we read with our spouse; they have their own role & book to read.
I read a lot of reviews about this book before buying it, and I'm so glad I did buy it. I think it's THE BEST book I've ever read about being a wife. I'm not Jewish so some of the references to that faith don't apply to me; however, there is a lot of practical advice in this book that anyone can use as a wife and mother. I have recommended it to many friends. I've even thought about buying ten copies and just passing them out to friends -- that's how much I feel this book can be life changing!
I AM NOT ORTHODOX, however, this book was amazing. My husband and I are baal teshuva but again, not practicing orthodox.Like anything, there are parts to it you simply have to ignore. Like the bit about a husband and wife becoming so close their like brother and sister..um no. Or the part about how a husband should never know what the inside of the grocery store looks like because his job is only to study Torah to combat is yetzer hara. Um no. Sorry, but my husband doesn't spend his life in a Kollel studying Torah. He has a job and a life and helps me around the house because he's a mensch and this is real life.That being said, those were just a few annoying paragraphs out of what is truly an amazing book. After reading this, I really felt like my husband and I could have the best possible marriage. It really encourages you and empowers you. If you want to have a meaningful relationship with Hashem, you will love this book. I ordered 3 more Shalom Arush books and can't wait to start the Garden of Emuna. I definitely recommend this to anyonelooking to improve their marriage with Hashem's help.
This book helps one understand their spiritual need of being a woman. In our society today many are confused about what the creator wants as our role. Most are influenced by society and the media and take on the role of the opposite sex. This clarifies Biblically what a woman is.
Words from the heart from a man who obviously has done a lot of counseling. I may not agree with every word but this book is already impacting my life for the better.
